Implementing Effective Data Management Policies in Distributed and Grid Computing Environments

چکیده
A common programming model in distributed and grid computing is the client/server paradigm, where the client submits requests to several geographically remote servers for executing already deployed applications on its own data. In this context it is mandatory to avoid unnecessary data transfer because the data set can be very large. This work addresses the problem of implementing a strategy for data management in case of data dependencies among subproblems in the same application. To this purpose, some minor changes have been introduced to the Distributed Storage Infrastructure in NetSolve distributed computing environment.

E2DR: Energy Efficient Data Replication in Data Grid
Abstract— Data grids are an important branch of gird computing which provide mechanisms for the management of large volumes of distributed data. Energy efficiency has recently emerged as a hot topic in large distributed systems. The development of computing systems is traditionally focused on performance improvements driven by the demand of client's applications in scientific and business domai...
متن کامل1 Data Management for Distributed Scientific Collaborations Using a Rule Engine
A virtual organization (VO) consists of groups of many scientists and organizations from geographically distributed regions that pool their computing and storage resources together in order to achieve some common scientific goal via grid computing. Such collaborations often result in the generation of a vast amount of shared data from experimental apparatus or statistical simulation. In order t...
متن کاملWeighted-HR: An Improved Hierarchical Grid Resource Discovery
Grid computing environments include heterogeneous resources shared by a large number of computers to handle the data and process intensive applications. In these environments, the required resources must be accessible for Grid applications on demand, which makes the resource discovery as a critical service. In recent years, various techniques are proposed to index and discover the Grid resource...
متن کاملEconomic-based Distributed Resource Management and Scheduling for Grid Computing
Grid computing, emerging as a new paradigm for next-generation computing, enables the sharing, selection, and aggregation of geographically distributed heterogeneous resources for solving large-scale problems in science, engineering, and commerce. The resources in the Grid are heterogeneous and geographically distributed. Availability, usage and cost policies vary depending on the particular us...
متن کاملPolicy Management in a Distributed Computing Environment
Management of the security of resources owned by an organization has increasingly moved to policy-based systems. Using a common policy management mechanism allows the modification of the policies without rewriting the underlying management system. This is especially prevalent in large scale systems such as grid computing, peer-to-peer systems, cluster computing, and other forms of distributing ...
